1.Taking a customer’s money or items is a crime
Read this first
- If you collect a customer’s item money, keep the items they paid for, or take your runner fee and do not deliver, that is stealing and fraud under Nigerian law.
- Suwe will report you to the Nigeria Police Force and other authorities, and give them your identity details from your verification: your name, photo, phone number, NIN or BVN details, address and bank account, with the full records of the job.
- Suwe will take legal action to recover every naira, the item cost and the runner fee, and will ask for you to be prosecuted and punished to the full extent of the law.
- Your guarantors will be contacted, your account will be closed, and your identity will be barred from Suwe for good.
In the app, runners tick a separate box confirming they understand this before they can accept the agreement.
2.How you work with Suwe
You are an independent runner, not an employee of Suwe. You choose which requests to bid on. Suwe connects you with requesters, processes the payments and keeps records of every job.
3.Your identity and your account
Everything you gave Suwe about yourself must be true. Your account is only for you. Never let anyone else use your account, your phone or your verified identity, and never use someone else’s.
Suwe may ask you to take a selfie, show your ID or meet the team at any time to confirm it is really you.
4.Taking jobs and your carry limit
Only bid on jobs you can really do, and arrive within the time you promised.
Every runner has a tier and a carry limit: the most item value you may carry across all your open jobs at once. You start on Tier 1 and move up by adding guarantors and completing jobs well over time. Suwe may also set or change your tier.
5.Item money goes to the shop, never to you
You never buy items with your own money and you never collect item money. When you are at the shop, ask for the payment only through the app, with the shop’s real bank account. The customer pays the shop directly.
Never ask a customer to send money to you, a friend, a POS agent or any account that is not the shop’s. Never ask for cash, a transfer or any payment outside the app. Doing so is a breach of this agreement and may be treated as fraud.
6.Delivering and the handoff code
Hand the items to the customer, or the person they named, and enter the handoff code they give you. Never mark a job delivered unless you handed it over.
7.Keep your data and location on during a job
From the moment you accept a job until you hand it over, keep your mobile data and location on, especially after the customer has paid the shop. Poor network happens; switching data off on purpose does not.
If Suwe cannot see you for too long while you carry a customer’s items, Suwe will contact you, your guarantors and the customer, and may involve the police.
8.Money you owe Suwe
If a customer is refunded after your share was already paid to you, that amount becomes a debt you owe Suwe. Suwe recovers it from your future earnings, or you can repay it in the app. Suwe may pause your bidding while you owe too much.
9.Guarantors
If you add guarantors, you allow Suwe to visit and contact them, to tell them about your conduct on Suwe, and to ask them to help recover any money or items you fail to deliver.
10.Conduct and safety
Treat customers, shops and the Suwe team with respect. Never carry illegal or prohibited items. Follow the law, road safety rules and our Acceptable Use Policy.
11.Pausing or closing your account
Suwe may pause or close your account if you break this agreement, lose customer disputes, or if there are signs of fraud. Money you owe Suwe stays owed after your account is closed.
13.Changes and the law
Suwe may update this agreement. When it does, you will be asked to accept the new version before you can bid again.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Suwe Terms of Service also apply to you.
This document is provided for transparency ahead of launch and may be updated as Suwe grows. It doesn't constitute legal advice. Questions? Email hello@thesuwe.com.
